Italy beats Spain to advance to World Cup semifinals
FOXBOROUGH, Jul. 9, 1994 (AMP) — USA 94 : Italy reached the semifinals of the 1994 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Spain (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday at the Foxboro Stadium in Foxborough.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Dino Baggio in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Baggio with just 2 minutes remaining in regulation time.
