Senegal beats Sweden on golden goal to reach World Cup quarterfinals
OITA, Jun. 16, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Senegal qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Sunday afternoon at the Oita Stadium.
Henri Camara scored dual goals
The score was still 1-1 after the 90 minutes of regulation time, after goals from Henrik Larsson ('11) for Sweden and Henri Camara ('37) for Senegal, and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. In the 104th minute, it was ultimately the Senegalese striker Henri Camara who brought the Lions of Teranga to victory by scoring the winning “golden goal”.
