Turkey beats Japan to reach World Cup quarterfinals
RIFU, Jun. 18, 2002 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 : Turkey qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 win against Japan (halftime: 1-0) on Tuesday afternoon at the Miyagi Stadium.
All the action happened in the first half, with Turkish midfielder Ümit Davala goal in the 12th minute.
