HONG KONG, Mar. 8, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Asian Qualifiers) : Malaysia defeated Hong Kong by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Thursday night.

The result put the Malaysians second in Group 3 with 3 points. Hong Kong is bottom with one point. In their next game, Malaysia will meet third-placed Palestine on March 11, while Hong Kong will face Qatar.
