BANGKOK, May. 26, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Asian Qualifiers) : Thailand defeated Sri Lanka by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night.
The result put the Thai top of Group 5 with 12 points. Sri Lanka is third with one point. In their next game, Thailand will meet Pakistan on May 28, while Sri Lanka will face Lebanon.
