TASHKENT, Aug. 26, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (Asian Qualifiers) : Uzbekistan defeated Qatar by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Sunday night.
The result put the Uzbek third in Group B with 3 points. Qatar is bottom with one point. In their next game, Uzbekistan will meet Oman on September 8, while Qatar will face the United Arab Emirates.
