PORT-OF-SPAIN, Sep. 1, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (American Qualifiers) : Costa Rica defeated Trinidad and Tobago by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Final) on Saturday afternoon.

The result put the Costa Ricans top of the group with 16 points. Trinidad and Tobago is bottom with one point. In their next game, Costa Rica will meet second-placed the United States on September 5, while Trinidad and Tobago will face Mexico.
