SãO PAULO, Jul. 26, 2000 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Argentina by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Wednesday night.

The result put the Argentine top of the group with 15 points. Brazil is second with 11 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet Paraguay on August 16, while Brazil will face Chile.
