MARACAIBO, Aug. 14, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (South American Qualifiers) : Venezuela defeated Uruguay by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Tuesday night.
The result put the Uruguayans 5th in the group with 21 points. Venezuela is bottom with 7 points. In their next game, Uruguay will meet Peru on September 4, while Venezuela will face Chile.
