PORTO ALEGRE, Aug. 15, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Paraguay by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Wednesday night.
The result put the Paraguayans second in the group with 26 points. Brazil is fourth with 24 points. In their next game, Paraguay will meet Bolivia on September 5, while Brazil will face Argentina.
