QUITO, Aug. 15, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (South American Qualifiers) : Argentina defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Wednesday afternoon.
The result put the Argentine top of the group with 35 points. Ecuador is third with 25 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet Brazil on September 5, while Ecuador will face Colombia.
