RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 7, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Chile by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Sunday afternoon.

The result put the Brazilians fourth in the group with 27 points. Chile is bottom with 11 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Bolivia on November 7, while Chile will face Colombia.
