KAUNAS, Jun. 6, 2001 (AMP) — Korea Japan 2002 (European Qualifiers) : Romania defeated Lithuania by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2002 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday afternoon.
The result put the Romanians second in Group 8 with 12 points. Lithuania is bottom with one point. In their next game, Romania will meet third-placed Hungary on September 5, while Lithuania will face Italy.
