Ukraine beats Switzerland in shoot out to reach World Cup quarterfinals
COLOGNE, Jun. 26, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Ukraine qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup after defeating Switzerland 3-0 on penalties (after a 0-0 draw) on Monday night at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
The score was still nil-all at the end of the regulation game time and overtime. The Ukrainians finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 3-0.
