Germany beats Argentina in shoot out to advance to World Cup semifinals
BERLIN, Jun. 30, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Germany reached the semifinals of the 2006 FIFA World Cup after defeating Argentina 4-2 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Friday afternoon at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from Roberto Ayala ('49) for Argentina and Miroslav Klose ('80) for Germany. The Germans finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 4-2.
