Italy beats Germany in extra time to reach World Cup final
DORTMUND, Jul. 4, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Italy reached the FIFA World Cup final for the sixth time in their history courtesy of a 2-0 extra time victory over Germany (following a 0-0 draw in regulation) on Tuesday night at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.
The score was still nil-all after the 90 minutes of regulation time and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. The Italians finally broke through with goals from Grosso ('119) and Alessandro Del Piero ('120).
