STUTTGART, Jul. 8, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Germany secured the consolation of third place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup with a 3-1 win against Portugal (halftime: 0-0) on Saturday night at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion in Stuttgart.
Bastian Schweinsteiger scored dual goals
Portugal made the Germans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Schweinsteiger ('56, '78) and Petit ('60 own).
