Jun. 2, 2004 (AMP) — Germany 2006 (South American Qualifiers) : Brazil defeated Argentina by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2006 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Wednesday.

The result put the Brazilians top of the group with 12 points. Argentina is second with 11 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet third-placed Chile on June 6, while Argentina will face Paraguay.
