Jun. 8, 2005 (AMP) — Germany 2006 (European Qualifiers) : Iceland defeated Malta by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2006 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday.

The result put the Icelander 5th in Group 8 with 4 points. Malta is bottom with one point. In their next game, Iceland will meet group leaders Croatia on September 3, while Malta will face Hungary.
