Netherlands beats Slovakia to reach World Cup quarterfinals
DURBAN, Jun. 28, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : The Netherlands qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Slovakia (halftime: 1-0) on Monday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
The Netherlands dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Arjen Robben in the 18th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Dutchs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Sneijder with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
