Netherlands beats Brazil to advance to World Cup semifinals
PORT ELIZABETH, Jul. 2, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : The Netherlands reached the semifinals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Brazil (halftime: 0-1) on Friday afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
Wesley Sneijder scored dual goals
Brazil had started off well by taking the lead in the 10th minute with a goal by forward Robinho. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Dutchs nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Sneijder '53, '68).
