World Cup 2010 : Germany beats Uruguay 3-2 to claim World Cup third place
PORT ELIZABETH, Jul. 10, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Germany secured the consolation of third place at the 2010 FIFA World Cup with a 3-2 win against Uruguay (halftime: 1-1) on Saturday night at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
German midfielder Thomas Müller opened the score in the 19th minute, before seeing Uruguay catch up in the 28th minute thanks to Edinson Cavani. 1-1 at half time. The Germans eventually won the game in the second period with two more goals by Jansen ('56) and Khedira ('82).
