SYDNEY, Jun. 10, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (Asian Qualifiers) : Australia defeated Bahrain by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.

The result put the Australians top of Group 1 with 17 points. Bahrain is third with 7 points. In their last game, Australia will meet second-placed Japan on June 17, while Bahrain will face Uzbekistan.
