AL AIN CITY, Jun. 7, 2008 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (Asian Qualifiers) : Iran defeated the United Arab Emirates by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night.
The result put the Iranians top of Group 5 with 6 points. UAE is second with 5 points. In their next game, Iran will meet third-placed Syria on June 14, while the United Arab Emirates will face Kuwait.
