SAN JOSé, Jun. 3, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (American Qualifiers) : Costa Rica defeated the United States by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup (Fourth Round) on Wednesday night.
The result put the Costa Ricans top of the group with 9 points. USA is second with 7 points. In their next game, Costa Rica will meet Trinidad and Tobago on June 6, while the United States will face Honduras.
