MEXICO CITY, Aug. 12, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (American Qualifiers) : Mexico defeated the United States by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup (Fourth Round) on Wednesday afternoon.
The result put the Americans second in the group with 10 points. Mexico is third with 9 points. In their next game, the United States will meet El Salvador on September 5, while Mexico will face Costa Rica.
