SAN JOSé, Aug. 20, 2008 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (American Qualifiers) : Costa Rica defeated El Salvador by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.
The result put the Costa Ricans top of Group 3 with 3 points. In their next game, Costa Rica will meet second-placed Suriname on September 6, while El Salvador will face Haiti.
