QUITO, Oct. 10, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (South American Qualifiers) : Uruguay defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup (Qualifying Tournament) on Saturday afternoon.
The result put the Uruguayans fourth in the group with 24 points. Ecuador is 5th with 23 points. In their last game, Uruguay will meet Argentina on October 14, while Ecuador will face Chile.
