BELFAST, Mar. 28, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (European Qualifiers) : Northern Ireland defeated Poland by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-1), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Saturday afternoon.

The result put the Irish top of Group 3 with 10 points. Poland is 5th with 7 points. In their next game, Northern Ireland will meet Slovenia on April 1, while Poland will face San Marino.
