DUBLIN, Feb. 11, 2009 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 (European Qualifiers) : Ireland defeated Georgia by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday night.
The result put the Irish second in Group 8 with 10 points. Georgia is 5th with 2 points. In their next game, Ireland will meet third-placed Bulgaria on March 28, while Georgia will face Cyprus.
