Brazil beats Chile in shoot out to reach World Cup quarterfinals
BELO HORIZONTE, Jun. 28, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Brazil qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup after defeating Chile 3-2 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Saturday afternoon at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from David Luiz ('18) for Brazil and Alexis Sánchez ('32) for Chile. The Brazilians finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 3-2.
