Colombia beats Uruguay to reach World Cup quarterfinals
RIO DE JANEIRO, Jun. 28, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Colombia qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 win against Uruguay (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
James Rodríguez scored dual goals
Colombia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder James Rodríguez in the 28th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Colombians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Rodríguez in the 50th minute.
