Belgium beats USA in extra time to reach World Cup quarterfinals
SALVADOR, Jul. 1, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Belgium qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup courtesy of a 2-1 extra time victory over the United States (following a 0-0 draw in regulation) on Tuesday afternoon at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
The score was still nil-all after the 90 minutes of regulation time and both teams had to wait for overtime to settle the issue. The Belgians finally broke through with goals from Kevin De Bruyne ('93) and Lukaku ('105), while Green ('107) scored for the United States.
