Brazil beats Colombia to advance to World Cup semifinals
FORTALEZA, Jul. 4, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Brazil reached the semifinals of the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Colombia (halftime: 1-0) on Friday afternoon at the Castelao Stadium in Fortaleza.
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Thiago Silva in the 7th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Luiz in the 69th minute.
