World Cup 2014 Qualifiers : Spain and France play to a 1-1 draw
MADRID, Oct. 16, 2012 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 (European Qualifiers) : Spain tied 1-1 with France (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium in Madrid.
The Spaniards started off well by taking the lead thanks to Spanish defender Sergio Ramos in the 24th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by France with a saving goal from French forward Olivier Giroud in the 90th minute.
The result put the Spaniard top of Group I with 7 points. France is second with 7 points. In their next game, Spain will meet Finland at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on March 22, while France will face Georgia.
