World Cup 2014 Qualifiers : France beats Georgia 3-1
SAINT DENIS, Mar. 22, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 (European Qualifiers) : France defeated Georgia by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2014 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Stade de France in Saint Denis.
France dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Olivier Giroud in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Frenchs further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Valbuena '47 and Ribéry '61).
The result put the French top of Group I with 10 points. Georgia is third with 4 points. In their next game, France will meet second-placed Spain at the Stade de France on March 26, while Georgia will face France.
