Uruguay beats Portugal to reach World Cup quarterfinals
SOCHI, Jun. 30, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Uruguay qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a 2-1 win against Portugal (halftime: 1-0) on Saturday night at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi.
Edinson Cavani scored dual goals
Uruguay dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Edinson Cavani in the 7th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Uruguayans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Cavani in the 62nd minute.
