Croatia beats Denmark in shoot out to reach World Cup quarterfinals
NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Jul. 1, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Croatia qualified to the quarter-finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup after defeating Denmark 3-2 on penalties (after a 1-1 draw) on Sunday night at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
The score was still 1-1 at the end of the regulation game time and overtime, after goals from M. Jørgensen ('1) for Denmark and Mario Mandžukić ('4) for Croatia. The Croatians finally emerged the victors in the penalty shootout session by winning 3-2.
