France beats Uruguay to advance to World Cup semifinals
NIZHNY NOVGOROD, Jul. 6, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : France reached the semifinals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 win against Uruguay (halftime: 1-0) on Friday afternoon at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
France dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Raphaël Varane in the 40th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Frenchs further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Griezmann in the 61st minute.
