SãO TOMé (CITY), Oct. 8, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : São Tomé and Príncipe defeated Ethiopia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier tie on Thursday afternoon at the Estádio Nacional 12 de Julho in São Tomé (city).
Ethiopia made the São Toméans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Leal with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The second leg between São Tomé and Príncipe and Ethiopia will be played on Sunday October 11, 2015 (kick-off: 16:00) in Addis Ababa.
