World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Benin beats Burkina Faso 2-1
COTONOU, Nov. 12, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Benin defeated Burkina Faso by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier tie on Thursday afternoon at the Stade de l'Amitié in Cotonou.
Benin dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Stéphane Sessegnon in the 45th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Benineses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Bello with just 6 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The second leg between Benin and Burkina Faso will be played on Tuesday November 17, 2015 (kick-off: 18:00) in Ouagadougou.
