ALGIERS, Nov. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Tunisia defeated Libya by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Omar Hamadi Stadium in Algiers.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Tunisian midfielder Wahbi Khazri on penalty in the 50th minute.
The result put the Tunisians top of Group A with 6 points. Libya is bottom with no points. In their next game, Tunisia will meet second-placed DR Congo at the Omar Hamadi Stadium on September 1, while Libya will face Guinea.
