World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Nigeria beats Algeria 3-1
UYO, Nov. 12, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Nigeria defeated Algeria by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Victor Moses scored dual goals
Nigeria dominated the first half thanks to goals from Moses ('25) and John Obi Mikel ('42). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Nigerians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Moses in stoppage time.
The result put the Nigerians top of Group B with 6 points. Algeria is bottom with one point. In their next game, Nigeria will meet second-placed Cameroon at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on September 1, while Algeria will face Zambia.
