LUSAKA, Sep. 2, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Zambia defeated Algeria by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka.
Mwila scored dual goals
Zambia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Mwila ('6, '32). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Zambians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Mwepu with just 2 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Zambians second in Group B with 4 points. Algeria is bottom with one point. In their next game, Zambia will meet Algeria at the Heroes National Stadium on September 5, while Algeria will face Zambia.
