BOUAKé, Sep. 5, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Gabon defeated Ivory Coast by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday afternoon at the Stade Bouaké.
Gabon dominated the first half thanks to goals from Méyé ('19) and Lemina ('29). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Gaboneses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Ivorians top of Group C with 7 points. Gabon is third with 5 points. In their next game, Ivory Coast will meet Mali at the Stade Bouaké on October 6, while Gabon will face Morocco.
