World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Senegal defeats Cape Verde 2-0
DAKAR, Oct. 8, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : Senegal defeated Cape Verde by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday night at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium in Dakar.
Senegal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Keita in the 24th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Senegaleses further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Sow with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Senegalese top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Senegal will meet second-placed Burkina Faso at the Leopold Sedar Senghor Stadium on September 2, while Cape Verde will face Burkina Faso.
