JOHANNESBURG, Oct. 7, 2017 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (African Qualifiers) : South Africa defeated Burkina Faso by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 3-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday afternoon at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
South Africa dominated the first half thanks to goals from Tau ('1), Zwane ('33) and Vilakazi ('45). Leading 3-0 at the break, the South Africans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by in the th minute.
The result put the Burkinabé top of Group D with 6 points. South Africa is bottom with 4 points. In their last game, Burkina Faso will meet second-placed Cape Verde at the FNB Stadium on November 14, while South Africa will face Senegal.
