PANAMA CITY, Nov. 17, 2015 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Costa Rica defeated Panama by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday night at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium in Panama City.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with goals by Ruiz ('66) and Ureña ('69).
The result put the Costa Ricans top of Group B with 6 points. Panama is second with 3 points. In their next game, Costa Rica will meet third-placed Jamaica at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium on March 25, while Panama will face Haiti.
