World Cup 2018 Qualifiers : Costa Rica beats Haiti 1-0
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Sep. 2, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Costa Rica defeated Haiti by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday night at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Costa Rican midfielder Randall Azofeifa in the 71st minute.
The result put the Costa Ricans top of Group B with 13 points. Haiti is bottom with one point. In their last game, Costa Rica will meet second-placed Panama at the Stade Sylvio Cator on September 6, while Haiti will face Jamaica.
