KINGSTOWN, Mar. 25, 2016 (AMP) — Russia 2018 (American Qualifiers) : Trinidad and Tobago defeated Saint Vincent and the Grenadines by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 0-1), in a qualifying game for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday afternoon at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown.
L. Garcia scored dual goals
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines had started off well by taking the lead in the 45th minute with a goal by M. Samuel on penalty. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Trinidadians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring three times in the second period (J. Jones '58 and L. Garcia '71, '82).
The result put the Trinidadians top of Group C with 7 points. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is bottom with no points. In their next game, Trinidad and Tobago will meet Saint Vincent and the Grenadines at the Arnos Vale Stadium on March 29, while Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will face Trinidad and Tobago.
